Class 3

Welcome to Class 3!

In Year 3 we have a teacher called Miss Squires who is kind. We also have Miss Maplethorpe working with us (as well as supporting PE lessons) and Mrs Newstead. They will be supporting in lessons and leading Bus Stop Interventions in the afternoons.

Year 3 is a Key Stage 2 Class, so we have playtime on the front playground in the winter and go on the field when it is nice weather. In Year 3 we start learning French with Mrs Brabben. We also learn to play the ukulele in Music with Mr Squires. When you start Year 3 you also have the opportunity to learn an other instrument, such as the clarinet, flute or guitar. Year 3 also go swimming during one big term.

In Year 3 we learn lots of different things, such as sewing and baking. Our topics also include: Ancient Egyptians, dinosaurs and plastic pollution.

There are some important skills to learn in Year 3. There is a big focus on handwriting, times tables and telling the time to the nearest minute. We also learn written methods for adding and subtracting.

We try to bring learning to life through school trips. This year we have visited Woodside Wildlife Park, the Collection Museum and we also went to see Awful Auntie at Nottingham Theatre Royal. Year 3 have also had an Egyptian WOW day, an explorers day and a sewing morning with parents too.
