Reception Class

Welcome to Reception Class!

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Willerton. Mrs Skinner also works in our class.

Staff in the Reception class at our school believe that parents are the child's first educators and therefore we invest a lot if time into establishing positive relationships with them. The team strive to ensure that each child leaves the class as a well-rounded individual who is independent, believes in themselves, is curious, imaginative, creative and is motivated to learn. Staff are committed to preparing children for life and ensuring that they are nurtured into confident, independent and social little learners. We believe that emotional maturity, empathy and other interpersonal skills are as important as skills in literacy and mathematics.

Here's what parents think about us...

"The change in my child is truly amazing so thank you for all the wonderful work you do."

"We have been extremely delighted with the start of his school journey. We couldn't have wished for a better school."

"My child has achieved so much in his first year with all the help and positive attitude from all the staff. Mrs Willerton is always happy to talk, help and nothing is too much which makes you feel confident in your child's progress."

"Communication between home and school has been fantastic which has helped us support our child in her learning as best we can."

The Reception class parents have access to individual pupil learning journals through logging onto a piece of educational software called ‘Tapestry’. Parents can see videos and photographs of their childs learning in school which have been uploaded by the staff in the Reception class. Parents can therefore track their childs progress closely and reflect upon their achievements with their child at home. Parents can also add comments and upload their own photos from home.
